鋼鐵人小勞勃道尼為HTC最新手機M8拍攝的新廣告曝光！這款手機頗受期待，執行長周永明聲稱要用此款手機重回HTC在鼎盛時期的市佔率。HTC在最風光時，曾經與Apple、Samsung鼎足而三。但好景不常，目前跌出世界十大手機品牌之外。如今HTC捲土重來，要奪回全世界智慧型手機10％的「市場佔有率」！

The company said the device should turn around recent weak earnings and help it recover market share.

HTC公司經營團隊在One系列的M8問市之際，所強調的市場佔有率，亦即簡稱的市佔率，在以上兩句英語之中都是market share。在國際職場與多益測驗裡，share是個值得一學的英語字彙。它可以當名詞使用，亦可當動詞，而且兩者都很常用。
當名詞使用的share是指某事物中的一部份，或是某人應得或是應該付擔的一部份。
例句：
Janet has finished her share of this project.
（Janet己經完成了她在這個專案應做的部份。
在這個「部份」的觀念上，share亦指公司股本的一部份，所以是「股份」。而用於「市場」的用語上，佔有市場的一部份，所以market share即為我們常用的「市場佔有率」，簡稱「市佔率」，通常作單數使用。
例句：
HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou, called gaining market share a critical issue.
（HTC的執行長周永明認為得到市佔率是一個非常重要的議題。）
當動詞使用的share是指「分享」或是「共用」，這也算是名詞「一部分」觀念的延伸，因為每個人都使用其中的一部份，所以是分享、共用。
She shares this apartment with three other women.
（她與其他三個女士合住這間公寓。）
We will share our some ideas on health management at the seminar.
（我們會在座談會上分享我們對於健康管理的想法。）
如果你在HTC的新手機M8上市時，注意到他們訴求「市場佔有率」的報導而注意到market share的使用法時，那以下出自《多益測驗官方全真試題指南Ⅲ》的聽力題肯定難不倒你。
聽力測驗的CD中，會撥放一位女士說：
I’ll be sharing this office, won’t I?
接著一位男士會回答出三個答案：
(A) Their main office is in Hong Kong.
(B) I think Sue’s the committee chair.
(C) Yes, your desk is by the window.
解析：
題目中，女士說的是：「我將要與你共用這間辦公室，是嗎？」關鍵字是動詞的「will be sharing」，share在此可不是市場佔有率裡的share，而是當動詞使用的「共用」，配上句尾的附加問句「won’t I ?」，所以形成了這個Yes/No問句。
本題的正確答案是(C)，回答的男士說：「是的，你的辦公桌靠窗。」其中by the window的介係詞by等於「beside」的用法，有「在…旁邊」之意。
答案(A) main office的「main」讀作[men]，有「主要的」之意，但是在國際職場上，main office是指「總公司」，而main office與sharing this office同時都有一個office，在此是出題者用來做為「相似混淆音」的干擾答案。
答案(B) committee chair中chair可不是「椅子」，它是chairperson的簡式，指「總裁、主席、議長、會長、董事長」等等。「chair」是多益測驗聽力部份中，會不時出現的「多義字」。
